Pay Our Interns Announces National Intern Day Celebration
On July 25th, 2019, National Intern Day, Pay Our Interns, with the help of College to Congress, will host an array of events to recognize the meaningful work that interns provide for congressional offices. Going into the historic first year that Congress allocated funds for paid internships, POI will recognize the strength interns provide to Congressional offices through workshops, panels, and a reception.
“Each year, thousands of young adults from across the country trek to our Nation’s capital to strengthen our democracy,” said Carlos Vera, Co-Founder of Pay Our Interns. “Today’s intern can very well become a member of Congress. Look at Congresswoman Pressly and Congressman Amodei, both were interns and are now successful members of Congress. National Intern Day serves as a reminder that the work that interns do is pivotal and should always be regarded as such.”
“I founded College to Congress because my congressional internship changed the trajectory of my career,” said Audrey Henson, founder and chief executive officer of College to Congress. “I am excited to work with Pay Our Interns to develop an entire day of programming that brings together leaders on both sides of the aisle to highlight the critical work interns do to move our country forward.”
Pay Our Interns and College to Congress look forward to celebrating Congressional Interns and ensuring that National Intern Day highlights the work and impact these young adults have in Congress.
POI is proud to partner with Phone2Action, D&P Creative Strategies, IMPACTUAL, CHCI and CHLI to make the activities of this day possible. Specific event details will be released in the coming days.
